Managing Director

Sokoun has been involved in the hotel and restaurant business for more than fifteen years, which might seem like a short time, but in that time his concepts have garnered a host of awards and accolades, and his properties are recognized as leaders in their regions. However, Sokoun is more than his corporate avatar, his concepts are also garnering attention for their positive social and environmental impact.

Sokoun is primarily responsible for seeking out opportunities to expand the Shinta Mani and Hôtel de la Paix brands across Asia. Raised in Bangkok, with roots in Cambodia, Sokoun is a native son to Southeast Asia, but received his BA at Boston University. His experience extends to hotel property, restaurant and bar development.

As founder of HMD Asia, Bed Management, Hôtel de la Paix, Shinta Mani, Bed Supperclub and other concepts Sokoun brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the boardroom table.


Upon completing his Master’s at Harvard, Bill began his career in Asia with Belt Collins & Associates in Singapore, where he eventually took the post Managing Director of their Hong Kong office. Since opening his own design studio, his reputation has steadily grown throughout the region for his near encyclopedic horticultural knowledge as well as his use and adaptation of ethnic art forms.

Bill travels extensively around the region, and continues to study and adapt his work to the unique characteristics and cultures. He loves his job and takes great joy in building long-term relationships with clients.

Executive Director

Born in Australia, Anthony started his 3-decades long career in hospitality in Sydney, including the opening the Regent (now Four Seasons), before moving to Thailand as opening General Manager of Amanresorts first and flagship resort when he was 27 years old, running Amanpuri for 12 years, with responsibility for the openings/operations of Aman properties in Bali and Myanmar.

Anthony then partnered with the owners of Trisara to help design, develop and manage the operations of the resort and the sale of 30 large villas, including Phuket’s first and only Michelin Star restaurant, PRU.

He also established and was founding President of the Phuket Hotels Association.

Anthony now leads the operations of HMD’s hospitality management business, where his passion for sustainability and education combine with his love of creating exceptional hospitality experiences for our staff and guests.

Anthony is married with 4 sons.

Asset Manager

Douglas Louden, throughout his career has demonstrated expertise in developing operations systems and effecting service refinements with a focus on people and the culture of the operating environment.

He began his career in the hospitality industry in London with Gleneagles Hotels, followed by employment with Regent International in Australia and Shangri La in China. He was General Manager of the Pan Pacific Bangkok where he was recognized for his community work by UNICEF and played an active role in the Thai Hotels Association.

He later became Corporate Director of Operations for Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, overseeing operations from the West Coast of USA to Japan, West and South East Asia. He then joined Hotel Properties Ltd as Vice President, Operations, included in his role was the development of the Hard Rock Hotels brand. In 2006 he joined Hong Kong Resorts as General Manager – Hospitality, where his primary role was to oversee infrastructure operations of Hong Kong’s largest private residential development.

Clients have included owners of brands such as: Ritz Carlton, Conrad, Park Hyatt, JW Marriott, Hyatt Regency, Rosewood, Six Senses, Radisson, Sheraton, Doubletree, Sofitel, Novotel and a range of independent products.

Director of Product & Development

Jason M. Friedman, a hospitality industry veteran with over three decades of experience, is currently serving as the Director of Development for HMDAsia. Born and brought up in New York, Jason has spent a significant part of his career in Asia, working with esteemed brands such as Four Seasons, Raffles, Amanresorts, Rosewood, InterContinental, and independent properties like The Siam and Qualia Australia.

Jason's expertise lies in the development and management of small luxury hotels, especially in South East Asia. He has a proven record of handling multiple successful projects, including the development of luxury resorts and tented camps. His working relationship with renowned architect and designer Bill Bensley has spanned over two decades, during which they successfully opened The Four Seasons Tented Camp, The Siam Bangkok, Shinta Mani Wild, Shinta Mani Mustang, Rosewood Luang Prabang and InterContinetal Khao Yai.

His work has earned him numerous accolades, including Best General Manager Worldwide 2015 by Gallivanter’s Guide and Best Hotel Manager Worldwide 2013 by Andrew Harper - The Hideaway Report. Residing in Bangkok, Thailand, Jason leverages his network of industry professionals to deliver hospitality solutions tailored to the specific needs of a project, making him a valuable asset to HMDAsia.

Group Director of Sales & Marketing

A dual citizen of the United States of America and Ecuador, Stephanie’s hospitality career spans 15 years in global sales and marketing, based in America and Asia.

From her roles with Hyatt in Florida and Hong Kong, Stephanie moved to Vietnam at the beginning of 2014 and worked for 4 years with JW Marriott hotels in Hanoi and Phu Quoc.

Stephanie returns to Asia and the hotel industry after two years in Ecuador as the VP of Global Sales for Cacao EcoVillage; a circular economy hospitality model that develops new ethical and highly traceable cacao-based products.

Her recent experience in Ecuador will be invaluable in supporting the important work of the Shinta Mani Foundation which is at the heart of Shinta Mani Hotels’ philosophy, supporting the local communities in which they live and work through the pillars of education, health and personal assistance.

In her new role, based in Bangkok, Stephanie will represent Shinta Mani Angkor and Bensley Collection Pool Villas in Siem Reap, Shinta Mani Wild – A Bensley Collection, and the newest addition to the group, Shinta Mani Mustang – A Bensley Collection in Nepal.

Stephanie will also oversee the newest addition to the group, the Jati Resort Brand, scheduled to open in Q3 2024 on Koh Russey (Bamboo Island) in southern Cambodia.

Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management from the Pennsylvania State University in the USA.

Group Director of Human Resources and Training

With over two decades of dedicated experience in human resources management and leadership in the hospitality industry, Sokros, our Group Director of Human Resources and Training, excels in HR strategic objective setting, crafting impactful HR policies, nurturing inclusive corporate cultures, and spearheading initiatives to enhance HR proficiency and growth.

Sokros holds a Master's Degree in General Management and a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Management, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of both HR principles and industry-specific dynamics.

He has been recognized for his outstanding contributions and was honored with the Asia Pacific Marriott HR Leadership Award. Additionally, he holds certifications as a Certified HR Manager from the American Certification Institute, Marriott Certified Trainer, and Marriott Talent Acquisition Champion in Cambodia, further highlighting his commitment to excellence and innovation in the field of Human Resources.

Sokros was born in the heritage city of Angkor, the former Khmer Empire. He is a married man with one son.

Group Director of Finance

Mun Chan Socheat is the Group Director of Finance at HMD Asia, bringing nearly two decades of experience in financial management, accounting, and taxation. He has a proven track record of enhancing financial operations in diverse industries, including hospitality, telecommunications, and trading & distribution.

Socheat began his career as an Accountant in the telecommunications sector, before advancing to the role of Auditor at one of the Big Four audit firms in Cambodia. He then held key leadership positions in both local and international companies, where he adeptly managed financial operations and implemented robust financial controls and reporting systems.
In his current capacity at HMD Asia, Socheat oversees the accounting and finance functions for multiple hotels and restaurants.

Socheat holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and Finance. He has also completed the ACCA qualification and achieved CFA Level I, II, and III. As an ACCA member since 2009, he remains committed to professional excellence and continuous improvement in financial management.
